I have been working out with P90x for quite some time now but with my recent hectic schedule and this hot summer weather… I needed to change things up a bit. Feeling drained from long labs and the heat, I just did not feel like losing anymore sweat from P90x’s killer workouts. So instead of opting to just stop working out, I brought out my Winsor Pilates workout videos.
This is one of the reasons why I like purchasing workout videos. I consider it an investment that you can benefit from forever. So anyways, I rediscovered Pilates. I have the Winsor Pilates 20 minute workout, Winsor Pilates Bun and Thigh Sculpting workout, Ab Sculpting, Accelerated Body Sculpting, and Power Sculpting with Resistance.
So what does Pilates do? It focuses on the core postural muscles that keep the body balanced and provide support for the spine. Winsor Pilates exercises focus on the “Power House” which consists of the large group of muscles in the center of the body: the abdomen, lower back, hips, and the butt. The exercises also extends out to the limbs. The exercise program is low intensity but you have to maintain strong, precise movements and control to engage the muscles properly. As a result you gain toned, long lean muscles and flexibility as well.
What I appreciate about the Winsor Pilates workouts is that they are all about 20 minutes long (with the exception of Accelerated Body Sculpting) and like I mentioned before, they are low intensity. This is one of the exercise videos I can do with my Mother, who has slight back problems so she can’t do my crazy workouts where I’m jumping around all over the place working up a sweat! But she could perform these low impact exercises and benefits from it as well. There were exercises where she started out doing the easier, “moderated” version of the exercise and eventually she got stronger and was able to perform the more difficult versions of those exercises.
So far I’m loving the videos again. After a long day, it feels like a short and simple yet effective way to get a workout in before ending my day. I will post more detailed reviews about each video later since I am just getting back into it again.
For more info on their newer videos check out WinsorPilates.com
(I don’t know why you can’t buy the workouts in the U.S. anymore? I’m trying to find out why.. stay tuned for that)
Very cool..
Glad to see you talk about something other than creams & jells ! – hhahahaaa
Fitness is a good thing, no matter what it is…. keep your body moving every day and eat right, and it’s all good.

Hi! I’m a big fan of P90X. Have you tried the new P90X+? I started to get into it but am getting a little lazy with the hot weather. I also have Windsor Pilates so maybe I’ll take your lead and do that for a while.

Thanks John!
And Claudia, I haven’t tried P90x+ yet… Girl that plus sign gets me tired just looking at it! I can’t imagine how P90x can get any harder. Did you try it yet? How did you like it?
I love Winsor pilates! I came here for fat shredder recipes but was please to read someone else is doing the Mari Winsor series.
I just started up again this spring after a long break from working out, and the dvd’s in this series are easy to get back into. They are hard at first but get easier with time. My muffin top feels a bit smaller already.
Nice blog!
