Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival Opening Night Feature Documentary – Pablo

LOS ANGELES, California – October 9, 2013 – (HISPANICIZE WIRE) – The 16th Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival (LALIFF) announced today, its opening night featured documentary, PABLO. On its Los Angeles premiere, PABLO will be shown at the El Capitan Theatre located at 6838 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles. The event will begin at 6:30pm with a red carpet, followed by the screening at 8:00pm and the opening night gala at 10:00pm.

PABLO is a Brazil and United States co-production that blends documentary and animation elements to tell the saga of the “famously unknown” Pablo Ferro. He is a man with a personal journey that spans from pre-revolution Havana to his current home in the garage behind his son’s house. Pablo Ferro has worked for over 5 decades creating iconic trailer campaigns and opening sequences for films such as “The Thomas Crown Affair,” “Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb,” “Men in Black 3,” and “Larry Crown.” PABLO is credited as “the father of the 60’s look” and for much of the MTV aesthetics.

Produced by Jeremy Goldgewicht and narrated by the Oscar award winner Jeff Bridges, PABLO features interviews with Angelica Houston, Jon Voight, Andy Garcia, Stan Lee and Beau Bridges. The film was directed by Richard Goldgewicht as well as co-written by him, Neil Katcher and Adam Trunell. The running time is 93 minutes in English.

“I was inspired by PABLO which led to us honoring Pablo Ferro this year. He represents & embodies the meaning of the “Gabi” the Gabriel Figueroa Lifetime Achievement Award,” A Latin artist who made his mark & contributed to the world of cinema! said Marlene Dermer, Cofounder/ Executive Director/Programmer of LALIFF.
