As many of you know, I am a Bare Minerals fan! I still religiously wear my Bare Minerals foundation, warmth radiance and mineral veil. It is one of the most natural looking makeup out there in my opinion, and this is a plus for me since I don’t want to look like one of those girls with makeup caked on. I like to let my skin breathe.
Anyways, early this year I finally ran out of foundation, and I noticed that Bare Minerals has a new Click, Lock, Go sifter that twists and locks foundation in to prevent unwelcome spills. I absolutely LOVED the new Click, Lock and Go packaging… until I started running low on my foundation. I then saw makeup stuck underneath and I had to fight to get the makeup out and overtime it became mission impossible.
After trying to get the sifter out the old way and failing, I decided to look online to see if anyone removed the sifter. And after a bit of searching, I discovered that you CAN’T remove the sifter, but Bare Minerals kept us users in mind and you can actually get to the foundation from the bottom.
If you want complete access to your makeup, flip the jar over and you can open it up from the bottom! You can use tweezers or any object to pop open the cap on the bottom and VOILA!
But when you are done, don’t forget to press the cap all the way back in. You should hear it pop back in. If you don’t close it right, the makeup will spill from the bottom!
Awesome tip thanks so much for sharing. I would have ended up standing myself with the butter knife trying to take the top off the other way!
LOL no problem Liz! I was pretty much about to do the same thing!
Thanks a ton! I tried prying it off a while ago but gave up. I knew there had to be some way! Now I can get the last bit of warmth ahh yes.
Glad I could help Olivia! 🙂
OMG! THANK YOU for that tip!! I’ve used Bare Minerals for nearly 14 years and love it, but lately I’ve become so annoyed with the new sifters that I’ve seriously been thinking about checking out other products. And, other than a now broken expensive pair of tweezers (don’t use good tweezers when trying to open the bottom of the container… sigh…), I can finally easily access my makeup without slamming the container against the countertop constantly. Yea!! 🙂
Oh no! I’m sorry you lost your tweezers Laurie! But I’m glad I could help!!
ha, seriously you don’t even want to know what i was doing: stabbing it with a screwdriver and picking out the chunks. your method seems a tad easier! i love u! thanks for this!
Thank you so much! I knew there had to be a way to that last bit of makeup that gets stuck in the container and hated that I hadn’t found a way to get the sifter off. Waste no more now.
Glad I could help Heather and Sarah! Enjoy using ALL of your makeup!
Thank you so much! I was frustrated and aggravated when I couldn’t get the last bit of Mineral Veil out of the container. Was even considering trying another brand! Finally, it dawned on me to Google to see if anyone knew the trick and there you were. Thank you again you clever girl!!!
HOW CAN I PURCHASE YOUR CLICK GO-LOCK-SIFTER SEPERATELY FOR THE MANY OLDER VERSIONS OF BARE MINERALS?
Hi Doretta!
Unfortunately I do not know of any click-lock-go sifters that you could buy that could be placed in older versions of Bare Minerals. I just know that most of the new jars have it, but smaller jars do not. Hope I helped a bit!

I can’t believe this – I have been trying to pry the TOP off and going nuts, trying to get the remaining powder out. I love the internet – I just ask a question, and my answer is always here!! THANK YOU!!!!!
So glad i found this! Now how do you put it back on? Please
Hi Nicholle! Just press it back in but make sure you hear the click or snap to ensure you’ve closed it properly!
Thank you so much for posting this. I was getting really annoyed at not being able to get all the product out! Makeup is too expensive to waste. Thank you.
I’m SO glad to know that. I’ve been so frustrated since they changed their packaging!! Thanks for the tip 😀
Wow!!! This information made my year! Who knew LOL!!!!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This is great!
Thank you so much for this tip! I had just attempted the “butter knife to the sifter” with no luck. 🙂
No problem happy to help Jen! 🙂
I’ve done this before but this morning I had trouble getting the bottom bit back on. Managed to spill all the makeup I’d managed to save from old pot 🙠But now it won’t ‘pop’ back on. It’s sort of popped but can see it’s not evenly popped all way round? Any tips
I’ve done this a number of times but having problems putting the base back on today. Any ideas? Tips?
Thank you so much. I have tried everything to get that cover off-now I don’t have to.
