Best Sunscreen L’Oréal Paris Sublime Sun

It is summertime and whether or not you plan on heading to the beach, you need to protect your skin! If you watched Dr. Oz within the past month you probably caught his Sunscreen Survival episode where he spoke with dermatologist Dr. Ellen Marmur. They made a lot of good points that consumers like you should be aware of.

FDA has new requirements for the labeling of sunscreens. Sunscreen products can only claim Broad-Spectrum Protection if they offer both UVA and UVB protection. UVB radiation is the most active radiation and is also known as the sunburn radiation since it is what causes sunburns. It is also considered to be the radiation that is primarily responsible for inducing skin cancer. UVB radiation also causes wrinkles and collagen damage, but UVA rays are also culprits when it comes to premature aging of the skin as well. UVA radiation penetrates deeper into your skin and can cause more serious and chronic issues to your underlying skin tissue. When you are choosing a sunscreen you should always choose one that either says Broad-Sprectrum Protection and or UVA/UVB Protection.

You should also apply your sunscreen GENEROUSLY and reapply sunscreen as needed, especially if you are going to be out in the sun for a long time. When choosing a product, choose one with an SPF between 30 to 50. An SPF of 30 simply means that if you were to put on the product, you would be protected from sunburns “30 times longer” than without it. Right now the maximum SPF out there is 50.

Also, there is no such thing as water-proof sunscreen — only water-resistant (or sweat-resistant). These products are a little stickier and come in “40 minute” or “80 minute” products. If you use the water-resistant 40 minute product, this means that you have to reapply the product again in 40 minutes. These products are highly recommended if you are going swimming, or if you an athlete that will be out in the sun for a while!

I think what most people don’t realize is they need to protect their skin all the time. If you’re going outside, you need to protect your skin. I know I’d get a tan just sitting in LA traffic alone! But I get that most people don’t like putting on sunscreen everyday because of the smell and sometimes the products are too greasy. This is why I like the L’Oreal Paris’ Sublime Suncare collection. These products were also featured on Dr. Oz and are lightweight, easy to apply and offer the best protection.

L’Oreal Sublime Sun’s patented UV filter system offers long lasting protection with key ingredients that protect your skin from UVA and UVB radiation. Not only do these products offer broad-spectrum protection, but there are also multi-action antioxidants for protection against free radicals. Sublime Sun has Vitamin E (which combats oxidative stress on the skin’s surface) as well as white grape seed that provides deeper protection below the surface of the skin. The result is sunscreen protection that truly keeps your skin looking healthy and youthful looking.

For the face I recommend L’Oreal Sublime Sun Liquid Silk Sunshield for Face SPF 50+. This is an ultra-weightless lotion that can be worn under makeup and will provide great protection. For the body you could use the Sublime Sun Lotions and or Lotion Sprays. I especially like the fast absorbing clear mist sprays that could be used on both wet and dry skin. The Sublime Sun Crystal Clear Mist Sprays absorb instantly into your skin and is not greasy! I really love the convenience of the spray, so you really have no excuse when it comes to skin protection.

Don’t forget to protect and nourish your skin this summer! Apply a generous amount of the product 30 minutes before stepping out and reapply every 2 hours if you’re out in the sun. But if you’re out swimming, sweating and or towel drying then reapply every 80 minutes.
